The Golden Apple Interview

I was interviewed for my role as Aphrodite in ‘The Golden Apple’ See the full text below!

Time for another Cast Highlight! Today we talk with the woman who brought Aphrodite to life, Christy St. John!

WHEN DID YOU FIRST GET THE ACTING BUG? WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO BECOME AN ACTOR?
In college, I took a break from studying Mechanical Engineering to study acting abroad in Scotland. It had always been a hobby, but that semester abroad taught me that it was also a passion.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE FILMS/FILMMAKERS/ACTORS?
I like The Princess Bride, Game of Thrones, Pirates of the Caribbean, anything action orientated with comedy sprinkled throughout.

WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE, CAREER-WISE, IN 10 YEARS?
My two biggest dreams are being in a three camera sitcom (a la The Big Bang Theory) and being an action star (a la Hunger Games). Fingers crossed I get to do both over the next ten years!

WHAT ATTRACTED YOU TO THE ROLE OF APHRODITE? HOW ARE YOU LIKE/UNLIKE YOUR CHARACTER?
Terence told me that barely anyone submitted to the role of Aphrodite. I certainly didn’t, because it’s hard to think of yourself in the part when the description is “the most gorgeous woman in the world.” She’s a lot more assertive than me and having a professional hair, makeup, and wardrobe team really helps. (Terence’s Note: Christy originally auditioned for the role of Athena. Upon seeing her first round audition tape, I felt she had a lot of potential for Aphrodite, so I decided to invite her to audition for that character as well. Christy, you did not disappoint!)

WHAT WERE SOME OF THE BIGGEST CHALLENGES YOU FACED IN THIS ROLE?
The shoot day was upwards of 100 degrees and I was sick as a dog that day. Needless to say, it was a challenge to act like the Goddess of Love while snotting up a storm.

WHAT ABOUT THE FINISHED FILM ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING?
The goddess’ costumes and makeup looked out of this world on the day of shooting and I can’t wait to see how they translate on film.

  1. It’s nice to see such a wholesome person’s budding career being highlighted. I’ve recently crossed paths with Christy, and I’m very impressed with the person behind the persona of the actor. I have a pretty good sense of people, and it wouldn’t be at all surprising to see Christy make a significant splash in the sea of constellations Hollywood has produced. Being an East Coast/Midwest (Army brat) transplant, I’m rooting for Christy. (Which I rarely have the urge to do. So, yeah, I don’t see [Christy’s] as the dime-a-dozen type at all.) Break a leg, lady! 8^)))
